Lifewrights offers specialist transformational coaching to musicians, actors, songwriters, authors and others who are seeking to transform their professional practice and fulfil their creative potential.

The Lifewrights programme

Over six month period, we work with you individually and in a group setting to erase the blocks that constrain your creative process. Most of the work is done online and privately at home. Participation in face to face gatherings is optional.

The Lifewrights programme provides a context in which you:

  • Explore the stories and narratives that continue to influence and shape your life and your thinking.
  • Discover the source of whatever might be hindering your creative process.
  • Use novel methods to overcome these obstacles.
  • Prepare for new creative openings to appear.
  • Transform your experience of what is possible for yourself and your creative practice.
Programme activities

  • Autobiography and biography.
  • Research and reflection.
  • Rehearsals and repetition.
  • Conversations over coffee.
  • Dreams, storytelling, sharing, coaching, making music, writing, songs, drawing.
  • Adventures, expeditions and excursions.

Our unique methodology

Lifewrights coaching is grounded in a unique methodology called Narrative Transformation.

Twenty years ago, we conducted research that led to the genesis of Narrative Transformation. We then developed our methodology, put it to the test and introduced it to the wider world.

Narrative Transformation is an immersive inquiry into a person’s experience of life and creative practice. It is not a technique, a toolbox or a bag of tricks. Rather, it is a way of seeing and being, a new way of thinking about and experiencing yourself, your work and your life. It brings about a fundamental shift in consciousness.

The hidden power of stories and narratives

The mind is a story-making mechanism. It responds to sensations and makes meaning. Our story is constructed in our mind by the meanings and interpretations that we make up and attribute to the events, circumstances and people we encounter in our lives. To escape our stories, we have to escape from our mind and the stories it invents.

What the story does – and this is its genius – is trick us into believing it is the truth. It abuses us and confuses us, so that we end up believing that we have no avenue other than the one it suggests.

It tells us that anything existing outside its walls is beyond our grasp. The story insists that we are the tales we tell ourselves and it deludes us into thinking that everything we know about ourselves and others is accurate and valid. We come to believe that the voice inside our heads is the only version of ourselves that is possible.

Our minds function through language, so we have to use new language to write new stories and articulate new possibilities.
